Garden

53min

Create a garden painting with an idea of the 3-D garden space. Light and shadow, greens, and fixing photo reference by adding or deleting elements are shown.

Use your own reference based on the ideas presented, or copy the demo as shown. Oil artists should work dark-to-light

Watercolor artists should plan the light elements first and work back to the darks (see the final screen frames to see where the painting will end up) 1: paint all elements as if there was no shadow, allow some color to merge, then let dry 2: paint shadows on top of step 1

Gouache pastel or acrylic artists should see if starting light medium or dark is helpful (pick one and be mindful of the starting value). Also see if grayer or more colorful works, since these media can layer colors.
