Try to create your study in about 20 minutes. This keeps the work fresh and avoids detail which can sabotage the art. Start another study after 20 min. or try a different view or time of day for another one. Good sizes for a study (or quick sketch) are 5x7 for graphite or pen, watercolor or gouache, or from 6x8" up to 8x10" for oil acrylc and pastel.
