A simple exercise to train your 'artistic eye' and extract potential from an average scene. Suitable for all media, watercolor shown in demo.

Any level of student can enjoy plein air (on location) painting with a window view, especially great to do in winter! Also a perfect project for 'warming up' after an art hiatus or before starting a big painting.

No pressure, fun painting, just for the joy of pushing paint and playful ideas with shape, value, and design.

Low expectations lead to great creative results. Enjoy extracting the potential from any scene.

Pick any view and work on: 1) shillouette or shape 2) value 3) variety 4) edges. (Ignore color in the beginning). After a few mini studies, try a larger one or some different colors (keep the value and design structure).
