In this second video explaining the large art process we look at how full paint (alla prima) sets the stage for a few choice highlights in the last steps of creating art. Key points are keeping greens and blues more neutral, pre-mixing large puddles of paint and stepping back often.

Whether you paint big or small knowing the creative steps is important to working in layers wih oil. Don't feel you have to be MORE REALISTIC! This was an early pitfall of my work and now I fully embrace the 'what if' mindset until I'm ready to finish a painting. Note that the focal point and light source changed during the course of this paintings creation!
