See prep video for sketches and design. July's Zoom class filmed live. UPDATE: Final art available now in Download tab.

Work from my reference or your own. UPDATE: I worked after class on the art demo, see the updated painting in the downloads tab.

During the live demo... Challenges were the dock area and light/shadow on the buildings. Students did a great job painting along! Make sure you see the great projects people painted in the last few minutes of the video.

After the video demo... I worked on the painting and scraped and repainted the boat/dock area several times. Interesting that this was a problem area during the sketch and design process! You see, it does indeed foreshadow the trouble ahead. So perhaps next time I'll pay more attention, but then again I do know I can get in trouble any time I paint! Sometimes art needs to be reworked, mustn't be afraid. The reworking time was a total of about 2 hours. This was done in bursts of about 10-20 min painting sessions. I repainted the water, sky, and buildings in some areas too. Instead of tweaking or adding detail I think about re-stating. This can grow to encompass an entire area, which then affects other adjacent areas. And so it goes. This is part of the 'keep it fresh' process and avoids a 'tight' look to the finished artwork.
